Angelica dahurica planting technology and cultivation management methods

Angelica dahurica is an important medicinal plant belonging to the Apiaceae family . Its root is the main medicinal part and has many functions. Angelica dahurica has strong adaptability and can be cultivated in all parts of China, both north and south. At present, many people are trying to grow Angelica dahurica. Let’s learn about the planting techniques and cultivation management methods of Angelica dahurica .

1. Scientific land preparation

1. Land preparation

The root of Angelica dahurica is the medicinal part, so it has higher requirements for soil. The ideal soil should be sandy loam with deep soil layer, loose and fertile soil, sufficient sunlight, high terrain and good drainage. Deeply plow the soil to a depth of about 30 centimeters, carefully harrow it, and apply 2000-2500 kg of farmyard manure as base fertilizer in combination with land preparation. After leveling and raking, make high ridges 1.3 meters wide and dig deeper drainage ditches around them to ensure that the ridge surface is in a turtle-back shape for easy drainage.

2. Planting

The sowing time of Angelica dahurica is critical, usually in mid-to-late September, and in areas with warm climates it can be extended to before the Descent of Frost. The main sowing method is direct seeding. When sowing in holes, the row spacing is 30-35 cm, the plant spacing is 20-25 cm, and the hole depth is 8-10 cm. Apply appropriate amount of fire ash and human feces and urine and mix well as base fertilizer, with a seed amount of about 750 grams per mu. When sowing in rows, the row spacing is 30 cm, the furrow width is 10 cm, and the depth is 7-9 cm. Mix the seeds with fire soil ash and sow them evenly in the furrow. The seed amount required per mu is about 1 kg. After sowing, water once with a thin layer of human and animal manure water, cover with fire soil ash, and ensure that the seeds are covered. Cover the ridge with grass to retain moisture and prevent weeds. Water the soil to keep it moist during droughts. Seedlings will germinate after about 15-20 days.

2. Field Management

1. Intertillage, weeding and thinning

After Angelica dahurica emerges, start thinning out when the seedlings are 5 cm tall. First thinning: For hole sowing, leave 5-6 seedlings in each hole; for row sowing, leave 1 seedling every 3-5 cm. When the seedlings are up to 10 cm tall, carry out the second thinning; leave 3-4 seedlings in each hole for hole sowing, and leave 1 seedling every 7-9 cm for row sowing. The third time of transplanting is in late February of the following year. For hole sowing, 3 seedlings are transplanted into each hole; for row sowing, 1 seedling is transplanted every 10-15 cm. Follow the principle of "pulling out the big ones and leaving the small ones" to avoid Angelica dahurica from growing too fast and blooming too early, which will affect the yield. After each thinning, combine it with inter-row cultivation and weeding.

2. Apply fertilizer at the right time

Scientific fertilization is the key to improving the yield and quality of Angelica dahurica. Too much fertilizer will cause Angelica dahurica to grow too vigorously, easily produce flowers and reduce yields; insufficient fertilizer will cause poor growth and low yields. Top dressing is generally carried out in 4 times. The first and second times are carried out in conjunction with thinning, with 1,500 kg of diluted human and animal manure applied per mu; after the third transplanting, 2,500 kg of human and animal manure and 30 kg of superphosphate are applied per mu; the fourth time is carried out after Qingming Festival, with 3,000 kg of human and animal manure and urine applied per mu. After fertilization, sprinkle 150 kg of fire ash on the bed surface and cover with fine soil. Keep the soil in the fields moist and drain it in time when there is too much rain.

3. Harvesting and processing

After sowing Angelica dahurica in autumn, harvest on a sunny day from mid-July to early August of the following year when the leaves turn yellow and wither. When digging, be careful to dig out the whole root, shake off the soil and wash it clean. Processing should be carried out on a sunny day, and small pieces should be cut horizontally with a chopper and turned over and dried in time. Qualified angelica should be dry, with grayish white outer skin, white cross section, fragrance, and no black core or insects or mold. The yield per mu can reach about 400 kilograms.

The above is an introduction to the key points of Angelica dahurica cultivation technology. Please note that there may be differences in different regions, so everyone needs to refer to it based on the actual situation.
