How to make succulents colorful, plump and stylish

How to make succulents colorful, plump and stylish

Get more sun! Get more sun!

If you want your succulents to grow fatter and more beautiful, the most important thing is to get more sun exposure. Except for the need for shade in the summer, they also need sun exposure in spring and autumn. The longer the exposure time, the better, preferably more than 8 hours. And it should not be exposed to the sun through glass, but direct outdoor sunlight. Exposure through glass is not very effective because glass blocks a lot of ultraviolet rays.

Of course, if you don’t have an open-air breeding environment at home, then place it in the place with the strongest light and the longest lighting time to dry in the sun! sun! sun! Some fragrant meats only have fragrance after being dried in the sun! The longer it's in the sun, the stronger the scent!

Precautions

1. The sun is too strong in the summer and you cannot expose your house outdoors to the sun. You need to provide shade or move it indoors.

2. In winter, if the outdoor temperature drops below -3 degrees, do not water the plants and expose them to the sun. This will easily cause frostbite. The soil in the pots must be kept dry before exposing them to the sun.

Water less! Water less!

Many people think that watering can make succulents grow fat, but this is not true. Too much water will only make the succulents grow upwards blindly, and then they will become thin. Too much water will not make the succulents grow fat. Only after controlling the water and letting the succulents have the concept of water shortage, after a long time, the succulents will use their leaves to store water, and the leaves will slowly become thicker.

But it can't be too dry either, otherwise the leaves will shrivel up, so the watering must be controlled well! Except for succulents that have just been potted and are still in the root growth stage, if the root system has already grown well, it is generally enough to water them 1-2 times a month during the growing season, and water them thoroughly each time! Water in the morning or evening!

Precautions

1. When growing succulents in the summer, you must control the water. Don't be careless and water them too much, because summer is hot and stuffy, and there is often a scorching sun after a thunderstorm. Not only are the leaves covered with water droplets and will get burned when exposed to the sun, but the moist soil is also hot and stuffy, and the roots will definitely not be able to bear it. It is very easy to black rot, so in summer, the succulents should be shaded, watered, and careful to prevent rain and water accumulation. I only watered the plants twice in three months this summer, and not a single one died.

2. Reduce watering in winter, basically watering once a month is enough. The same applies in winter, water once a month, a small amount each time! Choose to water in the sunny noon time, and keep the water temperature similar to room temperature. Otherwise, if it is too cold, the roots will not be able to bear it! Don’t water below 5 degrees, and keep the soil in the pot dry above -3 degrees. In the south, you can spend the winter outdoors! The prerequisite is to keep the soil in the pot dry, otherwise if the soil in the pot is moist, it will freeze and cause frostbite when the temperature reaches 0 degrees!

The soil needs to be breathable! The soil needs to be breathable!

The soil for succulents must be breathable, have a certain water-retaining function, and of course, be nutritious and able to provide nutrients to succulents. Professional players can use the following soil mixture: the top is Akadama soil or iridescent stone paving, and the bottom is 40% peat + 50% particles (Akadama soil, Kanuma soil, iridescent stone, vermiculite, rice stone, etc.) + 10% wood ash.

Beginners or amateurs can mix the soil with peat soil and coarse sand in a ratio of 1:1. Although it is simple, the growth will not be too bad.

Because Haworthia has a relatively strong root system, it can be grown in full-granular soil!

Precautions

1. Young seedlings require a higher proportion of peat because they have weak water storage capacity. Old stumps can have more particles so that the plant shape can be maintained better!

2. The growth of the plant is proportional to the ratio of the particles. The larger the plant, the more particles can be added! Watering too! There is no need to control the water for young seedlings!

There needs to be a big temperature difference! There needs to be a big temperature difference!

If you want succulents to have beautiful colors, temperature difference is also a very important factor. If the temperature difference between morning and evening outdoors exceeds 15°C in spring and autumn, the entire pot of succulents will change color within three days if they are kept outdoors. Of course, this basically depends on the weather, unless there are special conditions at home for temperature control.

Precautions

Some methods of artificially controlling temperature differences are basically not very mature, so it is better to stop worrying about it. Just do the above well, and your succulents will definitely not be ugly.
