Is there a difference between tiger jasmine and gardenia?

Is there a difference between tiger jasmine and gardenia?

1. Different genus and family

Tiger jasmine is a variant of jasmine. Although the flowers of the two look similar, it is essentially different from gardenia. It is a plant belonging to the Oleaceae family and is a variant. Its genes are very unstable and it is easy to mutate.

Gardenia is a plant belonging to the Rubiaceae family and the Gardenia genus. It is also called yellow gardenia, mountain gardenia, etc. It is a common plant in life.

2. Different leaves

The leaves of tiger jasmine are shorter than the latter, only about 3-8 cm in length, and can be distinguished by putting the two together.

Although gardenia is as dark green and shiny as the former, its leaves are relatively longer, about 12 cm.

3. Different flowers

The former has two types: terminal or axillary. Before blooming, the buds look relatively round. When the flowers bloom, the flowers are relatively large, with double petals that overlap each other, which is relatively vigorous and luxuriant.

The latter usually grows on the top of branches. The flower buds before blooming look pointed, and the number of flowers is smaller without much overlap.
