Yam bean cultivation methods and precautions

Yam bean cultivation methods and precautions

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: Yam beans have a well-developed root system and grow very fast. When choosing soil, you should use soil with good drainage and air permeability. Sandy soil is most suitable for growing yam beans.

2. Water: Its vitality is relatively fragile, so the amount of water should not be too much when you first start breeding. When watering, just keep the soil moist. If you water too much, water will accumulate in the pot, which will cause root rot.

3. Nutrients: During the growth period, the demand for fertilizer is high, so you can choose compound fertilizer. Sprinkle the compound fertilizer evenly in the soil and mix it well.

4. Light: It is a light-loving plant. Sufficient light can make it grow luxuriantly. Promoting the absorption of light can be more conducive to the growth of yam beans.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Pruning: After it has grown for a period of time, you need to prune away any extra branches. The increase in the number of branches will lead to poor ventilation and air permeability inside the plant, which will affect the growth of other young branches.

2. Reproduction: Sowing is usually used for reproduction. First, select the healthy yam beans and pick out those with small pits or poor germination. Then place it in a closed environment for germination, and control the temperature at around 25 to 28 degrees Celsius. New sprouts will grow in about half a month. Now you can sow the seeds and place them in the soil.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Stem rot: A common disease in yam bean cultivation is stem rot. If not diagnosed and treated in time, it will affect the growth of other branches and leaves. First, trim off the infected branches and leaves, then spray them with diluted thiophanate-methyl. The trimmed branches and leaves should be packed up and thrown away to avoid secondary infection of the branches and leaves.

2. White grubs: White grubs are one of the common insect pests. They will affect the normal growth of plants and in severe cases will cause withering and death. Use diluted mancozeb to spray for prevention and control.

IV. Other issues

1. How to store: It should be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated place, away from high temperature and humid environment to avoid rooting and sprouting during storage.

2. Is it edible? Yam beans are edible and taste great. However, if the yam beans start to produce poison, do not eat them and throw them away immediately.
