When and how to plant pear trees

When and how to plant pear trees

Pear tree planting time

Pear trees are generally best planted between September and November, and some varieties are also planted between February and May. The planting time is related to the variety's habits, soil quality, local environment, and climate.

How to plant pear trees

1. Choose the variety

Before planting pear trees, you must first choose varieties that are suitable for the local area. Different varieties of pear trees have different requirements for the climate of the environment. It is necessary to choose early-maturing, mid-maturing or late-maturing varieties of pear trees according to local actual conditions, and configure a certain number of pollination trees in the plantation to ensure the final fruit harvest.

2. Choose the soil

Pear trees are adaptable to a wide range of soils, but it is best to provide loose, fertile soil rich in organic matter and with convenient irrigation and drainage. Before planting, you need to dig a planting pool about 1 meter long and wide, apply sufficient base fertilizer in the pool, and then cover it with a layer of fine soil before planting.

3. Planting method

Select pear tree seedlings that are growing well and are not damaged. First, place the seedlings vertically into the planting pool that has been fertilized, then add soil. After they are fixed, water them. Be sure to grasp the reasonable planting density. Generally, the distance between each tree is 2 meters and the distance between rows is 3 meters.

Pear tree planting precautions

Pear trees are easily infected with various pathogens during their growth and development. The fragrance emitted by their fruits during the peak fruit-bearing period will also attract many pests. It is necessary to promptly cut off branches infected with pests and diseases, collect them together for destruction, and spray disinfectants and insecticides for prevention and control.
