1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: Bird's tail flower prefers loose slightly acidic soil, and it must be fertile sandy soil, because sandy soil is conducive to drainage.

2. Nutrients: Bird's tail flower itself does not require too much fertilizer. If you want to have higher flowering quality and higher ornamental value, you can fertilize it every two weeks.

3. Light: Bird's Tail Flower is a plant that likes sunlight, but it does not have high requirements for light exposure time. It can grow with weak sunlight, but it is best to get more sunlight.

4. Temperature: It is a plant that likes high temperatures, so it has strong heat resistance and can withstand high temperatures of 30°C. But it can't stand low temperatures. Once the temperature drops below 15℃, its growth will be affected.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Cutting: Bird's tail flower is propagated by cutting, which is most suitable in spring and autumn. Directly cut off the strong terminal buds and plant them in river sand, making sure to maintain humidity.

2. Sowing: Bird's Tail Flower can also be planted by sowing. It will grow many seeds after flowering. You only need to harvest them and then sow them the next year.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Soft rot: Soft rot will occur when the temperature is high and the drainage work is not done well. At the beginning, many transparent spots will appear on the leaves, and later the leaves will begin to rot. If this symptom is found, spray agricultural streptomycin for prevention and control.

2. Botrytis cinerea: Botrytis cinerea is easy to breed in low temperature and humid conditions, and the most serious harm is to the flowers. At first, spots will appear on the petals, and gradually the spots will become larger and larger, greatly affecting the ornamental value. In severe cases, the flowers will wither. If found, first ensure ventilation and lighting, keep it dry, and then spray with mancozeb.

IV. Other issues

1. How long is the flowering period: The flowering period of bird's tail flower is famously long. It can bloom from summer to late autumn, and the flowering period can last for more than one hundred days.

2. Can it be grown at home: Bird's tail flower is very suitable for cultivation at home and is very easy to grow. It only needs to be placed on a balcony with sufficient light to grow well.
