Zoysia grass cultivation methods and precautions

Zoysia grass cultivation methods and precautions

1. Maintenance methods

1. Water: Zoysia grass does not have strict requirements for water, and watering it twice a day is sufficient. In spring and summer, you need to water it more often. In autumn, you only need to water it once a day.

2. Soil: It can grow in most lands, but the soil is best if it is fertile, loose and rich in organic matter. When using soil, keep it clean and sterile, and disinfect it after mixing.

3. Temperature: It likes to grow in a mild climate and grows fastest in an environment of 13-25℃, and the plant will grow better. The temperature in winter should not be lower than minus 20℃.

4. Light: It is not very strict about light requirements. Try to let it get more sun. It is best to have relatively good lighting conditions. In order to ensure its healthy growth, it should be given sufficient light and not kept in a dark place.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Sowing: It can be done in April-May in spring, or in August-September in autumn. First, prepare the land, apply base fertilizer, and spray some suitable herbicides. After sowing the seeds, cover them with three centimeters of fine soil to keep them warm and moisturizing.

2. Pruning: Because it grows too fast and too lush, it needs to be pruned regularly. Generally, it only needs to be pruned once every thirty days or so, and once when winter comes.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Leaf blight: After being infected with leaf blight, small spots will appear on the leaves and leaf tips, and the leaves will become dry. The affected area must be cleaned with medicine. It can be sprayed with thiophanate-methyl and disinfected.

2. Rust: After the disease occurs, there will be slightly raised spots on the leaves, which will turn yellow, and the leaves will dry and curl. Methyl thiophanate should be used for spraying and control, or Baume lime sulfur mixture can also be used.

IV. Other issues

1. Can it be grown outdoors: It can be grown outdoors, can be made into a sports field, or can be used as a lawn. It has good elasticity and is very practical.

2. Is it edible? It has no nutritional value, so it is not recommended to be eaten. The cultivation is generally for appreciation or for greening purposes.
