Cultivation methods and precautions of Sophora japonica

Cultivation methods and precautions of Sophora japonica

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: Sophora japonica is drought-resistant and moisture-resistant, and its requirements on soil are not strict. Generally, sandy loam can be used.

2. Water: Choose the morning and evening time to water it. At noon, the sun is bright and scorching. Watering it at this time will easily cause it to wilt.

3. Nutrients: Sophora japonica has a great demand for fertilizers. During the period of vigorous growth, applying more fertilizer and loosening the soil can better promote its absorption of nutrients and healthy growth.

4. Light and temperature: It likes an environment with plenty of sunlight. Sufficient light can make its branches and leaves lush. It is not cold-resistant and will be frostbitten at 2-5℃.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Pruning: Prune the dead, old and damaged branches and leaves in time. The pruned branches, stems and leaves can be placed in flower pots and used as fertilizer to provide self-sufficiency in nutrients so that the plants can absorb them.

2. Reproduction: Sophora japonica is generally propagated by seeds. When the seeds are ripe, choose high-quality seed pods, then place them in a ventilated place to dry, then soak them in water and store them in a cloth bag. Wait until spring and plant them in moist soil.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Stem rot: Stem rot is a common disease of Sophora japonica, which can cause its epidermis to rot and decay, its branches and leaves to turn yellow and wilt, and eventually lead to its death. When stem rot occurs, the diseased branches should be removed promptly, and then sprayed with carbendazim diluted with water to kill the disease.

2. Pests: When pests occur, you can choose to remove and kill them manually, or you can use dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane mixed with water to spray the pests.

IV. Other issues

1. How to spend the winter: Water it once in winter, and then prune the aging branches appropriately.

2. Can pregnant women grow it? It is also known as the Golden Phoenix Tree, and its flowers have the effect of purifying the air. It is non-toxic and can be grown by pregnant women.
