1. Tips for choosing koi

You can choose koi that are about thirty centimeters in size and decide the number based on the size of your fish tank or pond. Choose a koi of similar size, or smaller, around ten centimeters, depending on your budget and the capacity of your fish tank or pond. Small koi appear more delicate, while large koi appear more spectacular.

When choosing, as long as they are not listless or losing scales, but lively and active, you can take them home. There are many different patterns for koi, and you can choose several koi with different patterns to make it look more colorful.

2. Make sure the fish tank or pond is prepared in advance

Before buying koi, determine the size of the fish tank, prepare the fish tank, and start the water, oxygen pump and filter. These preparations should be done before purchasing koi, rather than just buying a good-looking fish on a whim.

After completing the preparation work before putting the fish into the tank, go and buy the koi. The koi you buy need to be treated with warm water, and this step cannot be omitted. 4. Raise water first when raising fish

Although koi are wide-temperature fish, they still feel uncomfortable in the hot summer. Therefore, when choosing a fish tank or fish pond, you should choose a larger one with more water according to your budget so that the water temperature will not change too quickly.

When it comes to water temperature, the most suitable water temperature for koi is between 12-26℃, which is the best temperature for koi growth. Water temperature that is too high or too low is not conducive to the growth of koi and may also cause disease. At the same time, light is also very important. If there is a lack of light for a long time, koi may lose scales or rot. Koi in the fish tank need to be equipped with a special fish-raising lamp, which should be turned on for 3 hours a day to prevent scales from falling off and rotting.

5. Feeding

In terms of feeding, koi is an omnivorous fish, and small fish and shrimps, feed pellets, noodles, bread crumbs, etc. can all be used as food.

6. Notes

Koi are ornamental fish that eat a lot and excrete a lot, so you must prepare a filtration system before raising them. A powerful filtration system can save you a lot of trouble.
