Planting methods and precautions for plantain

Planting methods and precautions for plantain

1. Maintenance methods

1. Substrate: For growing plantain, you need to use fertile and loose soil, and it is best if it has good drainage. Generally, it can be planted in rice fields, vegetable fields, etc.

2. Temperature: It is a plant that cannot tolerate high temperatures and grows better at around 20°C. In summer, the temperature should not be higher than 30℃. If it is too high, you need to cool it down and replenish water. In winter, the temperature should be kept above 15℃.

3. Watering: Plantain prefers moist soil. Therefore, it is necessary to replenish water in time during maintenance to ensure that there is a certain amount of moisture in the soil. However, if the temperature is lower, you will need to water it less frequently.

4. Light: It does not require much light during its growth period. However, it is a relatively light-loving plant. If it is grown in a well-lit environment, its growth rate will be faster. If the light is poor, the leaves will be very thin.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: Usually the sowing method is used. Before starting sowing, you must first choose fertile soil. Then select healthy seeds, mix them with fine sand, and rub them gently back and forth to remove some of the oil. After sowing, cover the soil, water, and then wait for the seeds to germinate.

2. Weeding: During its growth process, weeding work needs to be done and some weeds around the plant need to be cleared in time. Generally, weeding can be done together with fertilizing.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Disease: The most common one is powdery mildew, which will cause white powder to appear on the leaves. After you find it is sick, you can spray it with thiophanate-methyl. If it is not prevented and controlled in time, the plantain is likely to die.

2. Pests: The main pests that attack plantain are aphids. When you find insects, you need to buy pesticides immediately and spray them for treatment.

IV. Other issues

1. Is it edible? It is edible when it is in the seedling stage. If you want to pick it, you have to choose to do it in spring, probably around April or May.

2. Is it toxic? It is not toxic, but has certain medicinal value.
