Bayberry growth environment conditions and requirements

Bayberry is also called Shengshengmei and Baidimei. This plant is native to my country and is mostly found in valley forests below 1,500 meters above sea level. It likes a warm and humid growing environment and has relatively high requirements for light and temperature.

Bayberry growth temperature

The most suitable growth temperature for bayberry is 15-20℃. The plant has a certain degree of cold resistance and can withstand temperatures as low as -9℃, but it cannot grow in a low temperature environment for a long time.

Bayberry growth humidity

Bayberry likes a humid climate environment, but the plant is also relatively drought-resistant. Generally, you can wait until the soil is completely dry before watering it. There should not be too much moisture in the soil, and a slightly moist state is best.

Bayberry growing soil

Bayberry likes loose, breathable, humus-rich, well-drained soil. It is suitable for planting in slightly acidic sandy soil. The pH value of the soil should be between 5-6.5.

Bayberry growth cycle and process

Bayberry can be sown around the Qingming Festival. After sowing, it will slowly take root and sprout. After a long growth period, the plant will become stronger and stronger. It takes 7-10 years from germination to fruiting. Then it will be pollinated in March and April in spring, and the fruit will mature around June.
