Because of its excellent nutritional value and health benefits, blueberry is known as the "Queen of Fruits ". So how to plant and maintain blueberries? 1. Soil selection Blueberries require loose, well-ventilated and well-drained soil. The soil pH should be between 4-5.5 and the organic matter content should be at least 5%. The pH value of the soil can be adjusted by applying sulfur powder. 2. Land preparation and fertilization The slope of the park shall not exceed 10%. Peat soil and decomposed cow dung shall be applied per mu, the land shall be plowed to a depth of about 30cm, the land shall be leveled and drainage ditches shall be set up. 3. Planting Choose an appropriate planting time according to regional climatic conditions. The specifications of the planting holes are generally 0.5m×0.5m, and the spacing between rows and plants varies depending on the type of blueberry. 4. Water and fertilizer management Blueberry roots are shallow and sensitive to water, so they need to be irrigated promptly. Avoid using water sources with high salt content or high pH value. Fertilization should mainly be with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in a ratio of 1:1:1, and avoid using fertilizers containing chlorine. 5. Pruning During the young tree stage, the main focus should be on cultivating tree vigor, removing flower buds, and thinning out weak branches. Adult trees need to be pruned in time according to their growth conditions, weak and crowded branches should be removed, and overgrown branches should be topped off during the growing season. 6. Lighting Blueberries need plenty of sunlight. Insufficient light will affect flower bud formation and fruit quality. 7. Temperature requirements The most suitable temperature for blueberry root growth is 12-18 degrees, branch and leaf growth is 13-28 degrees, flowering is 12-25 degrees, and fruit expansion and development is 15-28 degrees. 8. Harvest Blueberries usually mature from June to August. The fruit is ripe when its surface turns blue-black and needs to be harvested in batches, once every 2-3 days during the peak fruit-bearing period. The above is an introduction to the key points of blueberry cultivation. Now there are still many friends who use potted plants to plant blueberries. For potted blueberries, you must first choose a pot with good air permeability, keep the soil pH value between 4-5, pay attention to watering and fertilizing, and avoid water accumulation and excessive fertilization.
