The growth process of Clivia

The growth process of Clivia

1. Germination

After the seeds of Clivia are sown, they will germinate in half a month as long as the temperature is suitable. Do not turn it over frequently after germination to avoid affecting its growth. Seeds in the seedling stage have a higher demand for water and the soil in the pot needs to be kept moist. However, it should not be exposed to direct sunlight at this time, as long-term exposure to sunlight can easily burn the tender buds.

2. Long leaves

About one and a half months after Clivia germinates, leaf banks will grow. The leaves grow from here. Generally, true leaves will grow after two months, and the second leaf will grow after five months. It needs careful care at this time, and water cannot enter the leaf bank, otherwise it will cause it to rot.

3. Flowering

Clivia will bloom when its leaves grow to twelve. Its flowering period usually starts from New Year's Day and lasts until the Spring Festival. At this time, it needs proper light and a warm climate, and the temperature should be kept between 18-28℃. Do not water too much to avoid flooding the roots. You can apply a little phosphorus and potassium fertilizer before flowering to help improve the quality of the flowers.

4. Hibernation

Clivia enters a dormant period in summer. At this time, its demand for water and fertilizer is not high, so it is not advisable to water it too much. In addition, because the light is very strong, it is easy to sunburn its leaves, so it should be placed in a cool place. At the same time, if the indoor temperature is too high, it will be detrimental to its growth and it will require watering to cool it down.
