How to grow tiger plum to make it bloom easily

How to grow tiger plum to make it bloom easily

1. Suitable substrate

A good substrate is the first step to growing tiger plum, which will help it bloom. Mix peat with perlite and you can add a little vermiculite and cinders. This kind of potting soil has good drainage and can also retain water, which is beneficial to its breathing. At the same time, sufficient nutrients can make it grow better and is very helpful for its flowering.

2. Proper lighting

As a succulent plant, Stellera chinensis cannot withstand strong sunlight. But it is not good to completely avoid light, as this will easily cause it to grow too tall. It needs to be placed in a semi-shaded environment in summer, and the light exposure should be extended as much as possible in other seasons, which is conducive to its flowering.

3. Appropriate amount of water

There is sufficient water in the stems of Tiger Head Plum, so it is not advisable to water it too much, otherwise it will be detrimental to its growth. Summer is its growing season. The amount of water should be strictly controlled and watering should be done only after the soil is completely dry. During the winter dormancy period, it is not advisable to water.

4. Spring Flower Promotion

The flowering period of Stellera chinensis is in spring and summer, and the temperature at this time must be strictly controlled. When the temperature is above 0℃, place it outdoors. At this time, it needs to receive sufficient sunlight, but there is no need to water it in a hurry. Wait until small buds grow on the branches and grow to the size of soybeans before you can water them. Proper watering ensures that the branches are fuller and the flower buds continue to grow. When the flower buds are relatively large, you can make them bloom by reducing the amount of water in time.
