Characteristics of Begonia

Characteristics of Begonia

1. Appearance characteristics

Begonia has a long history of cultivation in my country, with records dating back to the pre-Qin period. The flowers often grow 5-8 per branch, clustered in an umbrella shape. The petals are ovate, white with pink. The cultivated varieties have double petals, but the wild varieties are mostly single petals.

2. Growth habits

Begonias are distributed throughout our country. It has strong cold resistance and can grow well in an environment of -15℃. At the same time, it can also adapt to areas where the soil is dry and water is scarce. The most important thing in daily maintenance is to give it sufficient light. An environment that is too shady will cause it to develop poorly.

3. Other effects

In addition to its good ornamental value, crabapple flowers are also edible. Its fruit is called crabapple, which looks and tastes similar to hawthorn, and also has certain nutritional value. In addition, although flowers do not think about it, they can absorb sulfur dioxide and smoke, and can protect against radiation when placed indoors, which is good for our health.

4. Leshan City Flower

The crabapple is the city flower of Leshan City. Since ancient times, Leshan has been known as the country of crabapple fragrance. What is amazing is that the fragrance of crabapple flowers everywhere is very faint, except for the Leshan crabapple, which has a strong fragrance and is known to be both beautiful in color and appearance.
