Planting technology and cultivation management of Asparagus cochinchinensis

Asparagus cochinchinensis may be an unfamiliar name to many people, but it is actually a plant with rich medicinal value and health benefits. Asparagus cochinchinensis, also known as Tiandong , belongs to the Liliaceae family. Its dried tuberous roots are a common ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine . As a widely used Chinese medicinal material, Asparagus cochinchinensis plays an important role in traditional medicine. Let's learn about the planting techniques and cultivation management of Asparagus cochinchinensis.

1. Site selection and land preparation

Asparagus often grows naturally on the edge of mountains, in grass or bushes . When cultivated artificially, it is recommended to be planted under the forest or intercropped with tall crops such as corn. Before planting, the soil is plowed at least 30 centimeters deep, weeds and stumps are removed, 2,500 to 3,500 kilograms of well-rotted manure is applied, and then the land is leveled and built into raised ridges in preparation for planting.

2. Breeding method

It can be propagated by seeds or division. Seed propagation is divided into spring sowing and autumn sowing. Dig furrows with a row spacing of 20 to 40 cm on the bed surface. Cover with compost or wood ash after sowing, and use straw to keep warm and moist. Seedlings will emerge in about 20 days. When propagating by division, choose a strong mother plant and divide it into several plants with at least three buds. After applying wood ash, dry in a cool place for one day before planting.

3. Field management

After transplanting, timely tillage and weeding should be carried out to avoid damaging the root system and tubers. When the stems grow to 50 cm, build a support to help the vines grow. After the spring thaw, apply 2,500 to 3,000 kilograms of manure per mu and mix it evenly with the soil. In summer, it is necessary to apply thin manure water once.

4. Pest and disease control

Asparagus has few diseases and conventional prevention and control methods are generally used. The main insect pest is red spider mites, which are prone to occur in June and harm the leaves. In severe cases, they can cause the leaves to wither and fall off. Clean the garden in winter, remove and destroy dead branches and leaves to reduce the source of pests. When insect infestations occur, spray lime sulfur mixture once a week for prevention and control.

The above is the planting technology and cultivation management of Asparagus. Farmers who want to plant Asparagus can refer to it more. Only by learning the planting technology well can the yield and quality of Asparagus be effectively improved.
