Cultivation methods and precautions of potted spring orchids

Cultivation methods and precautions of potted spring orchids

1. Soil

The roots of spring orchids are very sensitive. If there is water accumulation in the soil, root rot will easily occur. Therefore, when choosing soil, good permeability is the primary consideration. It is best to use fertile soil with sufficient nutrients, which is conducive to its growth.

2. Lighting

It is not resistant to strong light and is suitable for maintenance in a semi-shaded environment, but it cannot be completely deprived of sunlight. When exposing it to light, avoid strong light. When exposing it to light in spring, three or four hours of light a day will be enough.

3. Temperature

It has relatively high requirements for the ambient temperature. Too high or too low temperature will cause damage to its health. Therefore, it is necessary to control the maintenance temperature well, and it is enough to control the temperature at 18 degrees. When caring for the plant in spring, avoid spring cold and wait until the temperature stabilizes before caring for it outdoors.

4. Watering

It does not have strict requirements for water, and each watering must be done when the growing soil is dry. The frequency of watering is once or twice a week, and there is no need to water too frequently.

5. Fertilization

It does not require much fertilizer, and it is sufficient to apply thin fertilizer once or twice a month. Do not apply fertilizer during the dormant period because its abilities in all aspects will be weakened at this time, including the ability to absorb nutrients. If fertilizer is applied, it will increase its metabolic burden and affect its growth.

6. Notes

When applying fertilizer, it cannot be placed directly on the roots. It needs to be placed three or four centimeters away from the roots so as not to burn the root system of the plant.
