How to propagate Gloxinia flowers

How to propagate Gloxinia flowers

1. Planting

1. Generally, it is selected from August to October, and it will bloom in around April of the following spring. The seeds are small and need to be stored with care. 2. Choose a cultivation medium that is soft, well-drained and breathable.

3. Sprinkle the seeds evenly. The distance between the seeds should not be too dense. After sowing, there is no need to cover them with soil. Just press lightly.

4. Fully moisten the soil in the pot and cover it with glass to keep it moist. Keep the temperature at 20-22 degrees Celsius and it will germinate in about 10-15 days.

2. Cutting

1. Leaf cuttings are generally used, but branches are also acceptable. Cut off the healthy leaves, leaving 1 cm of petiole.

2. The substrate must be breathable and drainable. You can use clean river sand, or mix it with vermiculite, which will have a better effect.

3. Insert one-third of the leaves and leave the other two-thirds on the surface.

4. Properly block the sunlight, keep it at around 22℃, and maintain a certain humidity, and it will take root in about 15 days.

3. Divide the ball

1. Choose old bulbs that have been dormant for 2-3 years, bury them in the soil in autumn or December, water them with enough water, and then keep them at 22℃.

2. When the sprouts grow to 0.5cm, dig out the bulbs and cut them into 2-4 pieces with a sharp knife. The pieces must still have sprouts on them and apply wood ash on the cuts.

3. Then plant each piece in a pot. When new shoots grow out, remove the weak shoots around it.
