How to cultivate Australian fir bonsai

How to cultivate Australian fir bonsai

1. Breeding environment

1. Soil: It has high requirements for soil. In addition to the necessary conditions of easy drainage, looseness and high nutrition, you also need to consider its requirements for pH. It is best to use acidic soil.

2. Watering: It is afraid of drought, so it must have sufficient water and cannot lack water. Keep the soil slightly moist from spring to fall, but reduce watering after late fall.

3. Light: Scattered light is most suitable, neither too dark nor too bright.

4. Temperature: Warmth is best, but not higher than 32 degrees. Cool down appropriately in summer.

5. Fertilization: Once every two weeks during the growing season. The best type is compound fertilizer.

2. Pest Control

Australian fir does not suffer from many diseases, pests and insects, but its bonsai is easily troubled by scale insects. Therefore, attention should be paid to ventilation during the breeding process. If insects appear, be sure to use pesticides to eliminate them in time to prevent them from causing serious harm. Prevention is the main approach in normal times, and try not to wait until a problem occurs before taking action.

3. Regular pruning

Pruning is a necessary step for a bonsai. Routine pruning can be done on diseased, insect-infested, or dry leaves and branches. Another important thing is to trim and shape it. When its branches grow messy and affect the appearance, they should be pruned according to personal aesthetics.
