Cultivation methods and precautions of red spider lily

Cultivation methods and precautions of red spider lily

Farming methods

temperature

Red spider lily prefers a warm climate, and the suitable temperature for its growth is between 15℃ and 25℃, but it is very cold-resistant and the maximum high temperature it can tolerate is an average daily temperature of 24℃.

illumination

Red spider lily prefers a semi-shaded environment, but can also withstand direct sunlight. It will enter a dormant period in summer, so it should be avoided from direct sunlight and placed in a cool environment.

soil

Bulbous flowers are not picky about soil, but they live best in loose, fertile, humus-rich soil. Wild varieties generally grow in dark and humid areas, in red soil, and are accustomed to slightly acidic soil.

Moisture

It likes moisture, but can also tolerate drought. However, if planted in well-drained soil and maintained with sufficient water supply, the red spider lily will grow better.

Fertilization

Red spider lily is a bulbous flower with a relatively long growing period. Sufficient organic fertilizer should be buried in the soil before planting, and then topdressing should be applied once every two months. Homemade compost or three-element fertilizer can be used, and the proportion of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be emphasized to promote bulb development and flowering.

Precautions

Stay hydrated

When growing red spider lilies, if you find that the topsoil is dry and grayish white, you need to add water to the red spider lilies.

In summer, since the red spider lily will enter a dormant period, you should gradually reduce the frequency and amount of watering, and it is best to stop watering.

Soil drainage is good

When planting red spider lilies, you need to use soil with good drainage, otherwise water will easily accumulate and the bulbs will rot.

Controlling temperature

Red spider lily likes a warm environment, but the maximum temperature cannot exceed 30℃, and the daily average temperature cannot be higher than 24℃. In winter, the daily average temperature must be kept above 8℃ and the minimum temperature must be 1℃, so as not to affect the growth of red spider lily.
