1. Leaf DifferenceThe leaves of Saposhnikovia have flat and long petioles with broad leaf sheaths. The leaves are ovate or oblong, 14 to 35 cm long, 6 to 8 cm wide, and pinnately divided twice or nearly three times. The leaves of Nepeta are ovate or triangular-cordate, about 2.5 to 7 cm long and about 2.1 to 4.7 cm wide, with a sharp tip, a cordate or truncated base, coarsely serrated edges, and a herbaceous texture. 2. Flower DifferencesThere are many compound umbels of Saposhnikovia divaricata, with the peduncle at the top being 2 to 5 cm long and the umbel being 3 to 5 cm long. There are 4 to 10 small flowers in the umbel, and the petals are obovate and white. The inflorescence of Nepeta is cymose, or composed of dense terminal branched panicles, with leaf-like bracts, which are awl-shaped and small. The corolla is white, with purple spots on the lower lip and covered with short white hairs. |
