The seed maturity period of Clivia is relatively long, usually taking about 8 to 10 months. The seed coat gradually changes from dark green to red or purple-red, indicating that it is mature .

Healthy and mature Clivia seeds have plump grains and strong germination ability.

In fact, according to my maintenance experience, it takes about 30 to 40 days for Clivia to germinate after sowing . Generally, it will take about 30 days to take root and 50 to 60 days to grow small leaves .

The key to the germination of Clivia seeds is to control the environmental temperature and humidity for germination and ensure sufficient water supply.

Therefore, in order to ensure that the germination rate of Clivia seeds is both fast and good, it is necessary to make sure that the temperature of the potting soil must reach between 20 and 26 degrees Celsius. Only such temperature conditions can ensure that the germination rate of Clivia seeds is both fast and good.

At the same time, the water supply should also be appropriate. In the process of cultivating the germination of Clivia seed buds, the water supply needs to be particularly careful. A fine spray bottle should be used to spray water, and the pot soil should always be kept slightly moist, and the soil should not be allowed to dry or accumulate water.

The relative humidity of the air in the environment should be maintained at about 75% to 80%, which is conducive to fast germination of seeds and high emergence rate.

In the third year, when repotting, 30-50 grams of horseshoe slices or animal kick slices are needed as base fertilizer. When the seedlings grow to 6-8 leaves, they enter the vigorous growth period and need to be given sufficient water and fertilizer supply.

Every 10 days or so, you can apply a well-rotted thin liquid fertilizer in combination with watering.

During the growth and development period, you should pay attention to timely replenishment of water and nutrients to keep the potting soil slightly moist; during the high temperature period in summer, you should pay attention to avoiding rain and preventing waterlogging, and the potting soil should not be soaked in water to avoid root rot.

In the midsummer season, you should pay attention to sun protection, lower the ambient temperature, and spray water on the leaves frequently to increase the ambient humidity. With such maintenance and management, by the fourth year, when 14 to 16 leaves have grown, you can start to see flowers.

Although there are fewer flowers blooming that year, the Clivia grows healthily and the number of flowers will gradually increase in the future.
