How to graft big-leaf banyan onto small-leaf banyan

1. Root

Before grafting small-leaf banyan onto large-leaf banyan, the roots should be lifted according to the actual situation. Generally, small-scale grafting should be done after 8-10 months, medium-sized grafting should be done around December, and large-scale grafting should generally be done after the tuberous roots are formed.

2. Grafting

It is best to choose spring or autumn when buds sprout or around Qingming Festival for grafting. Use relatively sturdy large-leaf banyan as cuttings and small-leaf banyan as rootstock. Use sterilized tools to cut off the top of the rootstock, make a cut about 1 cm long, cut the lower end of the scion into a V shape and insert it into the rootstock, and tighten the interface with plastic film, spray some water appropriately, place it in a ventilated place for maintenance, and remove the film once a day.

3. Leaf picking

When the plant grows into chicken claw branches, the leaves should be removed, leaving only 2-3 nodes, so that new leaves can grow on the branches.
