The difference between wild strawberry flowers and snakeberry

1. The difference between flowers

The wild strawberry inflorescence is cymose, with about 2-4 flowers, light green subulate bracts at the base, and pedicels with soft hairs, about 1-3 cm long. The sepals are ovate-lanceolate with a caudal apex, the epicalyx segments are narrow lanceolate or subulate, the petals are white, obovate, and have short claws at the base.

Snakeberry flowers grow solitary in leaf axils. The pedicels are longer than the former, about 3-6 cm. The sepals are ovate with a sharp tip, the epicalyx segments are obovate, and the petals are yellow and obovate.

2. Difference of blades

The leaflets of wild strawberry are obovate, broadly ovate or elliptical, with a blunt apex. The base of the terminal leaflets is broadly cuneate, and the base of the lateral leaflets is cuneate. They are green with short soft hairs on the upper side and light green below, falling off and almost hairless.

The leaflets of snakeberry are obovate or rhombus-oblong, with obtuse tips, and have short soft hairs on both sides or are hairless on the upper side.
