Bolin has always wanted to build a dream "house" on the mountain, a place where she can wake up to the sound of birds singing, rest with the sunset, enjoy flowers and grow vegetables, drink wine and taste tea. She named it "Dream House"! In 2013, she and her husband were visiting Nanshan Lake. By chance, they saw a small villa on the mountain, which later became "Menglu". Because the original owner was in urgent need of funds, he sold it to the Berlin couple at a low price. What’s surprising is that this three-story villa facing the lake has a large garden of more than 1,000 square meters. She finally has the opportunity to create the pastoral life she dreamed of! Menglu is built on the mountainside. The whole thing is half a hillside with a wasteland and weeds on the hillside. You can imagine how difficult it would be to transform it! Before the garden renovation: After the garden transformation: The entire building is divided into six functional areas: a large garden on the first floor, a house and a small garden on the second floor, a vegetable garden on the third floor, a long corridor on the fourth floor, an orchard on the fifth floor, and a pavilion and sunroom on the sixth floor. Stacked layer by layer, it looks like a manor. Today, Huahua will focus on introducing to you the transformation of the garden, vegetable garden and orchard! Garden renovation 1: creating a beautiful entrance and a rest area on the east sideGo up the mountain road to the entrance of the garden. There is an arched iron gate at the entrance. The construction of the gate is very important. Bolin added an arched iron flower stand on the gate to prepare for the future climbing roses. On the right side of the courtyard gate, two three-dimensional fish ponds with a strong sense of hierarchy were built with the help of the slope. This fish pond is the soul and eyes of the entire garden. With water, the garden becomes lively. Bolin planted water lilies, Buddida, water plantain and other flowers and plants in the fish pond, and Gesang flowers, calamus and irises beside the fish pond. To the east of the garden is a weed garden that needs to be transformed into a small garden. First, build stairs, pave the path with bluestone slabs, and then transplant shrubs and flowers. Follow the path to the end, there is a corner, and Bolin turned it into a rest area: On a small round platform, there is a wooden swing, behind which is an arched flower gate with climbing roses planted; the ground is paved with tiles with a rainflower stone pattern, and there are a few black wrought iron tables and chairs. It is a great place to drink tea and chat in your spare time! This is the small garden on the east side! Garden renovation 2: build a circular trail and plant various flowers and plantsBecause the garden is a large sloping land, we must first adapt to local conditions and build a circular trail. While connecting various places, it can also create the effect of winding paths and changing scenery! The vegetation on the hillside is bare and overgrown with weeds. In the process of building the trail, we also have to remove weeds and plant flowers and trees at the same time. Cherry trees, red maples and other woody plants are planted on the periphery of the slope, low bushes are planted around the paths, and a handful of grass and flower seeds are scattered under the bushes. During the process, constant adjustments and plumping are required! With big trees, shrubs, flowers and plants, the plants in the garden gradually have a sense of layering. The stone steps paved with bluestone slabs extend all the way to the stairs at the entrance of the second-floor house. At this point, the outline of the entire garden has been formed. If we plant some flowers and plants, won’t it be especially beautiful! Transformation of vegetable and orchards to enjoy the taste of natureBolin built vegetable gardens and orchards on the upper floors. Cucumbers, beans, amaranth...all kinds of vegetables are lush and growing very well. There is a field of corn planted outside the vegetable garden, and a few sunflowers planted under the wall. Fruits and vegetables harvested from the vegetable garden If you can’t finish eating all the fresh cucumbers, you can pickle them into pickled cucumbers, which look especially delicious when eaten with rice! Using sword beans and eggs to make braised noodles is also a delicious dish~ Eggs and purslane can be made into delicious vegetable cakes~ There is a long grape trellis corridor between the vegetable garden and the orchard! The corridor is full of gourds, loofahs, bitter melons, and intertwined pumpkin vines. Trumpet creepers and wisteria flowers are planted along the corridor~ Walk through the corridor and enter the orchard, where peaches, plums, apricots, dates, persimmons, loquats, blueberries and other fruits are planted~ Every summer and autumn, we can always harvest plenty of fruits and give them to our relatives and friends! The entire garden was built by Bolin and her husband themselves. With their love for nature, they constantly overcame various obstacles, read books and magazines, learned online, and stole tips from experienced flower lovers... and finally achieved today's results. I am busy from dawn to dusk every day. Although my body is tired, my heart is full of excitement and joy! Rural life, leisure and tranquilityThe pastoral scenery is fascinating, but what is most enviable is the leisurely and comfortable pastoral life: in the early morning, wake up to the sound of birds singing, take a breath of the fresh mountain air, which is crisp and refreshing! In the mist, pick some fresh fruits and vegetables and make a delicious breakfast~ Pick a bunch of hydrangeas and sunflowers from the garden and make a beautiful flower arrangement~ Make a cup of coffee in the afternoon and enjoy the tranquility of the mountains~ Invite three or five friends to get together and chat in the evening, and enjoy the delicious food, wine and beautiful scenery~ In my spare time, I sit alone on the top of a mountain and watch the clouds roll by. Go on a self-driving tour to Sichuan, Tibet and Yunnan during the holidays to experience different beautiful mountains and rivers~ |
