Breeding methods and precautions of Emperor Crown

1. Maintenance methods

1. Potting soil: The potting soil for the Imperial Crown should be well-drained and breathable. Put broken tiles at the bottom of the flowerpot and mix it with coarse sand and garden soil. In order to have a certain amount of nutrients, you can also add a small amount of bone meal or leaf mold.

2. Light: It likes a sunny growing environment very much, but it still needs appropriate shade at noon in summer. As long as there is sunshine, it can grow well.

3. Temperature: Its growth temperature range is relatively wide, and it can grow well in 5-30℃. It can withstand a large temperature difference between day and night, and it can safely survive the winter as long as the temperature is not lower than 5℃.

4. Watering: The Imperial Crown has the ability to store water, so you don’t need to water it too much during normal watering. Just wait until the soil is completely dry before watering. However, do not let water accumulate in the flowerpot to avoid root rot.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: The main methods of propagation of Emperor Crown are sowing and grafting, but both are relatively troublesome. The sowing method germinates very slowly, and grafting is best done in June or July, and the survival rate is still acceptable.

2. Repotting: If you want to repot the Imperial Crown, you need to trim its rotten roots, then place it in a ventilated place to dry for a week, and then repot it. If it is a new seedling within 2 years, there is no need to trim the roots, and you can directly pot it.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Anthracnose: This disease is relatively common and is also very harmful to plants. Once discovered, spray it with 600 times diluted 65% Mancozeb wettable powder in time.

2. Pests: The primary pest is definitely red spider mites. When red spider mites appear on the plant, gray-yellow spots will appear first, followed by large pieces of leaves falling off until all the leaves fall off. They need to be killed in time with miticide.

IV. Other issues

1. Is it edible? The imperial crown is an endangered species, so it is recommended not to eat it. If you are bitten by mosquitoes, you can apply its juice to reduce swelling and relieve pain.

2. Can it be raised indoors? The Imperial Crown can be raised indoors. It can not only absorb the radiation from various electronic devices, but also serve as a decoration. However, be careful not to get pricked by it.
