Differences between Apricot and Ginkgo Trees

Differences between Apricot and Ginkgo Trees

1. Difference in appearance

The apricot tree is about 5-8 meters tall, and can reach up to 12 meters. The crown is oblong or round, the bark is gray-brown, the branches of older trees are light brown, and the branches of one-year-old trees are light reddish brown and hairless.

The crown of the ginkgo tree is conical, while that of old ones is broadly oval. The bark of young trees is light gray, while the bark of large trees is gray-brown. Branches over two years old are gray, while those of one-year-old branches are light brown-yellow.

2. Difference of blades

The leaves of apricot trees are round-ovate or broad-ovate and green in color.

Ginkgo leaves are fan-shaped, light green on both sides, and turn yellow before falling in autumn.

3. Fruit Difference

The fruit of the apricot tree is spherical, rarely obovate, and white to yellow in color. When fully ripe, it will turn yellow-red with a layer of red on the surface.

The fruit of the ginkgo tree, also known as white nut, is oblong or elliptical and white in color.
