What is Freesia?

1. Characteristics of the bulb

Freesia is a perennial herb. Its bulb is oval or narrowly oval, with dark red spots and reticular stripes.

2. Leaf characteristics

The leaves of freesia are strip-shaped or sword-shaped, slightly curved, between 15-40cm in length, between 0.5-1.4cm in width, and yellow-green in color. There is a distinct line in the middle of the leaf.

3. Characteristics of flowers

Its flower stem grows upright and has 2-3 curved branches. The branches have small upright flowers that are light yellow or yellow-green. It has no pedicels, but each flower has two bracts at the base, which are broadly ovate or oval.

4. Fruit characteristics

Its fruit is a capsule, which is nearly oval in shape.
