Difference between gladiolus and calamus

1. Differences in plant types

The corm of gladiolus is flat and spherical, with a diameter between 2.5-4.5cm. It is covered with a brown or yellow-brown membrane. The rhizome of calamus grows horizontally, is slightly flat, and has a diameter of 0.5cm-1cm. It is covered with a layer of yellowish-brown skin.

2. Difference of blades

The leaves of gladiolus are sword-shaped, 40-60cm long and 2-4cm wide. The leaves of calamus are sword-shaped and linear, wider at the base and gradually narrower. The length of its leaves is between 90-150cm, and the width of the middle part of the leaves is 1-3cm.

3. The difference between flowers

The inflorescence of gladiolus is a scorpion-shaped monochasium with no pedicels. The flowers come in a variety of colors, including red, yellow, and white. The inflorescence of calamus is narrow cone-shaped and the flowers are mostly yellow-green.
