What is the difference between Somei Yoshino cherry and Oshima cherry?

1. Flower Difference

The flowers of Somei Yoshino cherry have 5 petals. The petals are light red at first and slowly turn white as they mature.

The flowers of Oshima cherry are single-petaled and white in color. They open in an umbel shape and are completely hairless. The calyx tube is in the shape of a long bell, and the sepals are lanceolate with small serrations on their edges.

2. Trunk

The trunk of Somei Yoshino cherry is relatively thin. It can grow to 5 to 12 meters, and the color of the trunk is gray.

The trunk of Oshima cherry is thicker and taller than the former, and can grow to about 15 meters. The colors of the two trunks are very different, and its color is a little darker.
