Does African jasmine bloom?

Does African jasmine bloom?

1. Whether it can bloom

Many friends found that the African jasmine they grew did not bloom, so they doubted whether it could bloom. In fact, it can bloom. Its flowering period is generally around May to June. The reason why it is difficult for it to bloom is that the conditions for its flowering are relatively harsh, not that it cannot bloom.

2. Flowering conditions

(1) Flowering age: First of all, newly planted plants will definitely not bloom. They need to be one year old before they can bloom. For African jasmine, it takes at least five years. Some plants may not bloom until more than ten years later. Therefore, you should not be impatient for it to bloom.

(2) Maintenance conditions: First, provide sufficient phosphorus fertilizer and potassium fertilizer, and do not use too much nitrogen fertilizer. Otherwise, its leaves will grow well, but there will be very few flower buds, which will not achieve our goal. During the bud formation stage, you can use more phosphorus and potassium fertilizers, such as bone meal, animal manure, etc. Then there is light. African jasmine is a light-loving variety and requires sufficient light during its flowering period. Place it in a bright place and increase the light intensity by at least three to four hours a day to facilitate the differentiation of flower buds. The temperature should be within an appropriate range, neither too high nor too low. The amount of water should be appropriate, neither too little nor too much. Then there are diseases and insect pests. We must strengthen supervision and take immediate preventive measures once they are discovered.
