The difference between sunflower and sunflower

The difference between sunflower and sunflower

1. Different appearance

The sunflower has a small flower disk and the flowers come in a variety of colors, including the common yellow, purple, red, orange and other colors. The height of the entire plant is about 30 centimeters, and its petals occupy a larger area of the entire disk than the area occupied by the seeds. The color of sunflower is only yellow, the plant height is between 1.5 and 3 meters, and the entire seed disk occupies two-thirds of the flower disk area. From these appearances, the two are completely different plants.

2. Different seeds

The seeds of sunflower are very small, and some varieties do not even have seeds, so its seeds cannot be eaten directly. The seeds of sunflower are the "melon seeds" we often eat. The seeds are much larger than those of sunflowers and can be eaten directly. The sunflower oil on the market is extracted from its seeds.

3. Different effects

In addition to its ornamental function, sunflowers also have pharmacological effects. The whole plant of large-flowered Purslane can be used as medicine, which has the effect of clearing away heat and reducing swelling. It can be used to treat burns and bruises. Hairy Purslane can treat knife wounds. The ancients crushed it and applied it directly to the wound to stop bleeding. The main function of sunflower is to lower blood pressure and blood lipids, and to strengthen the stomach and promote diuresis.

4. Different flowering periods

Sunflowers bloom in June and July every year, and their flowering period is relatively short; sunflowers can bloom in both summer and winter, and they grow rapidly during the growing period. They will bloom and bear fruit in more than two months, and the flowers will bloom for about half a month.
