Cultivation methods and precautions of fortune tree

Cultivation methods and precautions of fortune tree

1. Temperature

The money tree likes a warm environment, and its most suitable growth temperature is around 20℃. If the temperature is lower than 5℃, frostbite may occur. If the temperature reaches 35℃ or 40℃ in summer, proper ventilation and cooling must be ensured, otherwise death may occur due to the heat.

2. Soil

Most of the money trees purchased on the market have been pruned, including the roots. Therefore, you must choose loose and breathable soil for cultivation to avoid root rot.

3. Lighting

If it is grown indoors, it is best to place it in a place with good diffuse light. If it is grown outdoors, it can receive full-day sunlight.

4. Watering

The roots of the money tree are shallow, so be sure not to water it too much, otherwise water accumulation in the pot will cause root rot. Before watering, you can shake the flower pot, and then water it when you feel the pot becomes noticeably lighter. You can also use a small wooden stick to poke two centimeters down into the soil in the pot, take it out and see if the stick is dry, then you should water it.

5. Fertilization

If you have compound fertilizer or slow-release fertilizer at home, you can poke 3-5 small holes on the edge of the pot and bury the compound fertilizer granules in it; you can also cook the moldy soybeans at home and bury a few in the same way to supplement it with nutrients.

6. Notes

If you grow money trees for a long time, aphids or scabies may appear, which is mostly caused by poor indoor air circulation. If insect pests appear, rinse it with clean water or brush it off with a toothbrush. After treatment, place it in a well-ventilated place to avoid reinfection by insect pests.

If you grow it indoors, do not expose it to direct sunlight, as white spots will appear on the leaves over time. Do not apply too much fertilizer at normal times to avoid fertilizer damage and plant death.
