Green radish cultivation methods and precautions

Green radish cultivation methods and precautions

1. Temperature requirements

The ideal growth temperature of Chlorophytum cochinchinensis is between 15-25℃. The leaves will turn yellow below 5℃, and frost damage may occur around 0℃. Avoid low temperatures when maintaining plants in the north during winter.

2. Lighting requirements

The growth of Chlorophytum requires bright scattered light and is relatively shade-tolerant. It is not recommended to expose the plant to direct sunlight during maintenance, otherwise sunburn will occur.

3. Water requirements

When maintaining the plant, ensure that the soil in the pot is moist, and do not water it too much or too little. Long-term dryness will cause the leaves to turn yellow, become smaller, and the internodes of the leaves will become too long. If the soil in the pot is waterlogged for a long time, root rot will occur.

4. Fertilization requirements

The green radish grows relatively fast and requires a lot of fertilizer. During the maintenance process, the potting soil should be changed every 1-2 years, and some base fertilizer can be mixed into the soil to meet its long-term needs. During the growing season of the year, apply thin fertilizer once every half month.

5. Common pests and diseases

The most common disease is leaf spot disease, which causes some circular yellow spots on the leaves, which will also turn black, and the leaf tissue inside the circular spots will rot. If it occurs in small quantities, you can trim the leaves and cut off the infected parts. If the situation is serious, you can spray with methyl thiophanate, carbendazim and other pesticides.

6. Notes

The air humidity required by the green radish is relatively high. If the indoor air humidity is low, the leaves will dry out. The humidity of the surrounding environment can be increased by increasing the spraying method. After being cared for at home for a period of time, it will grow very long branches, which can be properly pruned according to needs to control the branches. At the same time, the cut branches can be re-grafted to form new potted plants.
