Gardenia cutting method and time

Gardenia cutting method and time

Gardenia is widely favored by gardening enthusiasts for its lush branches and foliage, evergreen leaves and fragrant fragrance. During the peak growth period of gardenia , it is often propagated by cuttings. Let’s learn together the method and time of gardenia cuttings .

1. Cutting time

Gardenia cuttings can be taken in June, August and October, but the survival rate is highest in mid-April. The climate in the south is warm, which is suitable for cuttings between March and October. The climate in the northern region is colder, so it is recommended to carry out cuttings between May and June. Late spring and early summer have a mild climate, which is the best time to take gardenia cuttings.

2. Cutting method

1. Selection of soil for cuttings

Choose fertile, loose, well-drained slightly acidic soil, which can be mixed with humus, dead leaf soil and coarse sand. The soil needs to be disinfected before use to prevent diseases.

2. Selection of cuttings

Choose strong, one-year-old woody branches, which are easy to root. Give priority to branches with full buds, cut off the lower leaves, and keep the upper 2 to 3 leaves. The cut branches need to be disinfected with disinfectant and then dried in preparation for cuttings.

3. Cutting method

Insert the treated branches into the soil to a depth of about 3 cm. Compact the soil around the branch to ensure that the branch is in close contact with the soil. Water in time after cuttings, keep the soil slightly moist, and wait for the branches to take root.

The above is an introduction to the cutting method and time of gardenia. Many novice flower lovers do not know how to propagate, so the above method is relatively simple.
