How to grow Baolu

How to grow Baolu

1. Temperature

It is best to keep it between 18 and 22 degrees. Too high or too low will have adverse effects. In summer, when the temperature is above 30 degrees, the temperature should be lowered appropriately, otherwise the plants will be harmed. In winter, the temperature must be above five degrees to ensure safe wintering. If the temperature is too low, it will cause frostbite.

2. Lighting

Baolu likes semi-shaded environment. Therefore, avoid too strong light, but not too dark either. From May to September, 50 percent shading is sufficient. Normally, scattered light is more suitable. This will be beneficial for its growth and flowering. In winter, the lighting time can be slightly longer.

3. Watering

The main watering periods are spring and autumn. When the soil in the pot is dry and the leaves become slightly soft, water the plant in an appropriate amount, but not too much. The general principle is "a mixture of wet and dry but slightly drier".

4. Fertilization

Needed during periods of rapid growth. During this stage, apply fertilizer once every half a month, and choose compound fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. This will promote its growth and flowering. After autumn, do not use nitrogen fertilizer anymore, but phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can be used in moderation. In winter, there is no need to fertilize.

5. Repotting

Repot every two years or so. It is usually carried out around spring. Choose loose, breathable and well-drained sandy soil. For the Asteraceae family, you can mix leaf mold, garden soil and coarse sand. The basin can be replaced or not depending on the specific situation.
