Cultivation methods and precautions of wintersweet

Cultivation methods and precautions of wintersweet

1. Potting soil

It is best to choose flower pots with good air permeability, such as ceramic pots and clay pots. Use loose sandy soil, which can be mixed with garden soil, coarse sand, and decomposed cake fertilizer. You can put some broken tiles at the bottom of the pot to help better drainage.

2. Watering

When watering, adhere to the principle of not watering unless the soil is dry. It is best to water every day during the growing season. Observe the soil before watering. If it is dry, water it appropriately. Watering more during hot seasons can help it grow better. Drain the water in time on rainy days to avoid water accumulation.

3. Temperature and light

Wintersweet likes plenty of sunlight and the suitable growth temperature is 16-23℃. Generally, the minimum temperature should not be lower than -10℃. It is relatively resistant to high temperatures and can grow even in an environment of 40℃.

4. Fertilization

In order to help its branches and leaves grow better, apply thin liquid fertilizer once a month. When the branches grow to 20 cm long, reduce fertilization. Apply fertilizer twice in late summer and early autumn to help flower buds differentiate better.

5. Notes

1. Pruning: It is usually done 20 days after the flowers have dried. Dry and crossed branches should be cut off, as well as branches that are too dense. In order to make the flowers bloom more luxuriantly, the side branches can also be shortened appropriately.

2. Pests and diseases: Common pests and diseases include anthracnose, black spot, aphids, etc. The diseased leaves should be removed in time, and the branches and leaves with eggs should be cut off in time to avoid increasing the source of infection. At the same time, you can spray pesticides.
