Can cucumbers be grown in pots?

Cucumbers can be grown in pots, usually on the balcony of the home for appreciation and consumption, or they can be planted in the ground. If planted in the ground, they can be grown on a large scale, which can not only meet household needs but also be sold in the market.

For potted cucumbers, you should choose a larger pot. If the pot is suitable, the cucumbers planted in the same year will bear fruit in the same year. If the pot is small and no sticks are inserted, it will affect its fruiting.

Cucumber pot cultivation method

1. Soil preparation

You can add some farmyard manure in an appropriate amount, or you can put some vegetable nutrient soil, so that it can provide enough nutrition for the cucumber seedlings in the later stage, allowing it to grow healthily.

2. Pruning

Cucumber is a vine plant that will grow long climbing branches. When it grows to about one meter, it needs to be pinched to promote branching, so it is necessary to promptly build a support for the cucumber growth. In addition, the cucumber stalk is tough, so it is best to use scissors when picking to prevent the vine from breaking.

3. Watering

Potted cucumbers have a very small area, so the water capacity is also very small. The water just poured in may evaporate in a short time, so you must be careful when watering. Don't water too hard, don't water too hard, and use small amounts of water to keep it moist.

4. Fertilization

To increase cucumber production, the plants must be given enough nutrition. When applying top dressing, be sure not to overdo it, otherwise root damage and seedling death will easily occur. Top dressing should be done in small amounts and multiple times. Top dressing should mainly be with chemical fertilizers. Generally, 3 to 4 grams of ammonium nitrate should be used per pot each time, and do not exceed 5 grams at most.

5. Timely scaffolding

The cucumber vines will become longer and longer, and its branches will also grow very long, so we must build a rack for it in the pot in time. Generally, three bamboo poles are inserted in the pot. After the cucumber vines grow long and reach a suitable length, we should start to tie them up.
