Cultivation methods and precautions of Swallow's Palm

Cultivation methods and precautions of Swallow's Palm

1. Soil

It is best to use leaf mold and garden soil. After mixing the two, you can also add some river sand and base fertilizer.

2. Humidity

It does not like a particularly humid environment. If there are long rainy days, it is easy to be infected, so it is best to move it indoors when it rains. Do not allow water to accumulate in the pot, as this will cause root rot.

3. Temperature

The temperature it requires is also relatively low, generally between 15 and 32 degrees. It cannot withstand high temperatures well. If the temperature is above 33 degrees, or below 7 degrees in winter, it will go dormant. If the temperature is below 4 degrees, it will get frostbite or even die.

4. Lighting

It prefers sunlight. If there is not enough light, it is likely to cause its roots to rot and its leaves to fall off. However, if the light is too strong, it will not be good for its growth. Therefore, it is best to move it to a sunny place in winter, and move it to a cool place from time to time in summer.

5. Fertilizer and water

It doesn't like fertilizer and water, so we generally don't apply any. If the plant does not grow well or has problems such as yellowing leaves, add some water appropriately, or add decomposed fertilizer and water during its growth period.

6. Watering

It is required once every one or two days from spring to autumn, and water accumulation is prohibited. Because the temperature is particularly high in the summer, it is easy for it to enter a dormant period. At this time, we must control watering and provide shade. Sprinkle some water around the pot every day and keep it ventilated. When winter comes, the water will begin to decrease slowly, and it is best to keep the soil a little dry.

7. Pruning

Pruning it means cutting off those branches that are too dense or too long as it grows, so that the plant looks good. It can also store nutrients.
