What soil is used to grow pennywort

What soil is used to grow pennywort

1. Growth Habits

It prefers sunlight and can be grown in the sun all year round, but it will not die if placed in a cool area. It is quite afraid of cold and needs temperatures above zero to survive the winter. It likes loose, breathable and well-drained soil. It cannot tolerate moisture and its roots will easily rot and die if it is very wet.

2. Suitable soil

You can grow it like succulents. They are all drought-tolerant, but they don’t like moisture, so the soil must be well permeable and have a lot of particles in it. You don't need to use very good soil to grow it. Peat and perlite are good enough. If you don't have these two substances, you can use ordinary garden soil plus coal crushed slag. The best soil is sandy soil. Mixing river sand into the soil can help it drain. Putting gravel at the bottom of the flowerpot can prevent the drainage holes from being blocked.

3. Maintenance Note

1. If the flowerpot is relatively permeable, you don't need to be very meticulous when watering. Just wait until the soil in the pot is dry and then water it thoroughly. Don't think about watering it all day long. If you put too much water, its roots will easily rot and its leaves will turn yellow. Many people have killed it because of this.

2. It needs plenty of sunlight. Only with high-intensity light can its fleshy leaves be thick. Otherwise, the leaves will be very thin and flat. You can't use high-intensity light all at once; you have to proceed step by step. It cannot tolerate severe cold and needs ventilation and should be kept in an area with good air circulation.
