What fertilizer should be used for jujube trees to make them big and sweet? What fertilizer should be used for jujube seedlings to make them grow fast and bear more fruits?

If we want to grow big and sweet jujube trees, fertilization is very important. Generally, jujube trees can be fertilized with basal fertilizer, germination fertilizer, flowering fertilizer, fruit-promoting fertilizer, and foliar fertilizer during their growing season.

When the new shoots of the jujube seedlings grow to 10-15 cm, quick-acting nitrogen fertilizer should be applied in combination with irrigation, and it can be applied by digging trenches before rain. While applying fertilizer to the roots, the leaves should also be sprayed with 0.4% urea water every 10-15 days.

Fertilizer for jujube trees

If you want the jujube tree to bear big and sweet jujubes, you need to apply fertilizer in the early stage of flowering, flowering period, and fruiting period. In the early stage of flowering, you can spray boron fertilizer or zinc fertilizer. If the tree is weak, you need to use phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. In the fruiting period, use fertilizers that can make the fruit swell and beautify, and prevent sunburn and cracking. This will help the jujube tree absorb nutrients and accumulate more nutrients.

base fertilizer

In autumn, basal fertilizer is mainly organic fertilizer, and some quick-acting fertilizer can be applied in combination. Organic fertilizer should be applied slightly farther and deeper from the root distribution layer. Generally, the root system of mature jujube trees is concentrated in the soil layer 30-50 cm deep. It is best to apply basal fertilizer after the jujubes are harvested and before the leaves fall .

Flowering fertilizer

Flower-promoting fertilizer, also known as pre-budding topdressing, is very beneficial for flower bud differentiation, flowering and fruiting. This topdressing is mainly nitrogen fertilizer, with appropriate phosphorus fertilizer . It is generally carried out in early April. For large trees in the peak fruit-bearing period, 1-1.5 kg of diammonium phosphate can be applied to each tree.

Flowering fertilizer

It should be carried out before the jujube tree blooms and in the early flowering period. Top dressing during the flowering period can replenish the tree's nutrients in time, increase the fruit setting rate , and is beneficial to the growth and development of the fruit. Top dressing is mainly nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizers, with some potassium fertilizers added appropriately.

Fruit Fertilizer

Top dressing during the young fruit stage of jujube trees is also called fruit-enhancing fertilizer , which is usually carried out in mid-July. It is the key to increasing fruit yield and improving quality. This top dressing should be applied in combination with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

Foliar fertilization

Foliar fertilization is also called foliar fertilization . As a supplement when soil fertilization is insufficient, foliar fertilization is mainly nitrogen spraying in the early growth stage of jujube trees. It should be sprayed once every 15 days or so, and both sides of the leaves should be sprayed. It is best if the leaves are covered with mist droplets without flowing.

Fertilization method for jujube trees

Among similar fruit trees, the jujube tree has a relatively large fertilizer requirement. Whether it is basal fertilizer or topdressing, the type and amount of fertilizer should not be lower than the average level. This is the only way to ensure the normal growth, flowering and fruiting of the jujube tree.

In addition, topdressing for jujube trees is not limited to the number of times. It can be done during the budding period, differentiation period, flowering period, and fruit setting period , and the amount used needs to account for 30% to 40% of the total annual amount.
