Cultivation methods and precautions of ear-lip orchid

Growth habit

This flower originally grew under conditions with poor sunlight, so it needs shade during the cultivation process. But they like a humid environment, so you should pay attention to this issue when maintaining them. They also have relatively high requirements for temperature. If the temperature is too low and they are not brought into the house in time, they can easily be frozen. Let's take a closer look at it.

Planting location

The planting location is also very important. It should be an orchid shed facing east and back west. It would be best if there is a taller building or tree on the west side to block the sunlight, but it cannot be completely blocked. The scorching sun needs to be kept out of the shed, but some sunlight must also be allowed in. Keep the air around you as fresh as possible. It is best to have a clear water pool under the shed to keep the air moist at all times, but it must be clean, otherwise it will easily breed pests and diseases.

temperature

As mentioned above, they have relatively high requirements for temperature. When the outdoor temperature is about 0℃, the orchids must be moved indoors, otherwise the orchid roots may be frozen. In winter, if the weather is relatively clear, the temperature in the shed can exceed 15 degrees Celsius. If it is snowing or other days when the temperature is not that high, appropriate measures must be taken to keep it at 15 degrees Celsius. But it can be kept at 5℃ at night, and the temperature can be gradually increased from February to ensure better growth throughout the year.

Potting

The time for potting can be chosen in March or April or October or November. If it is a new plant, you can choose a clay pot, but if it has been planted for 2-3 years, you can choose a purple clay pot. Remember to wash the roots and dry them before repotting.
