How to dwarf potted grapes? Dwarfing pruning method

If you want grapes to produce more fruits and mature earlier or later, a greenhouse is a good place. But grapes need to be dwarfed in a greenhouse, so how can you dwarf grapes without affecting quality and yield? Today, I will introduce you to the pruning methods of dwarf grape seedlings.

Methods for dwarfing potted grapes

1. Topping

Potted grapes have a strong sprouting ability. You have to wait until the main branches grow to a certain height, then cut off the top branches in time. You can pick them off after the side branches grow to a certain extent. This will dwarf the grape vine.

2. Qugan

The branches of potted grapes are soft and easy to bend. When the branches grow to a certain height, they need to be bent, that is, the branches are bent into a spiral shape that spirals left and right. In this way, the plants can be made shorter, thus forming a spiral shape.

3. Pruning

When the grape vines are in the seedling stage, they must be pruned continuously to shorten crossing branches, diseased and insect-infested branches, dead branches and overly long branches, to promote branch germination and achieve dwarfing and flowering.

4. Ringing

For flowers and trees that are easy to root, such as grapes, the skin should be peeled in a ring shape under the fruit branches after the plants set fruit. The ring-barked area should be wrapped with a plastic film with a fertile substrate. After 2-3 months, short new plants will be formed.

Things to note when dwarfing potted grapes

Choose a place with plenty of sunlight and put an appropriate amount of coarse-grained rice straw at the bottom of the pot. You can mix soil, sawdust, bark, rotten residue, etc. to prepare nutrient soil, and insert expanded clay into the pot to increase drainage and ventilation.

Potted grapes can be placed directly on the soil surface of the pot, and compound fertilizer or decomposed cake fertilizer can be applied. A small amount of compound fertilizer or decomposed fertilizer can be applied when germination occurs. In addition, organic liquid fertilizer is applied to grapes once a summer to ensure sufficient nutrients and promote flower bud differentiation.
