Cultivation methods and precautions of lily azalea

Growth habit

This flower originally lives at a relatively high altitude, so it likes a moist and cool growing environment. Generally, plants prefer soil with a slightly lower pH. This flower is no exception, but it has better alkali resistance and can grow between PH 7-8. The flowering time is basically from March to May, but if you want to prune it, you have to do it before May so as not to affect the flowering.

Maintenance management

Fertilizer amount

As mentioned above, they do not have high requirements for soil quality, but if planted in the north, you must pay attention to the pH. If it is too high, you can add some decomposed pine needle soil to the soil. Because the roots of this flower are relatively thin, it has relatively high requirements for the concentration of fertilizer and the quality of water.

When the flowers are not blooming in spring, P fertilizer needs to be used to promote the growth of flower buds. No fertilizer is needed during the flowering period. After the flowers fall, you can use 1-2 times of nitrogen and phosphorus-based fertilizers. September to October is the critical period for bud formation, so P fertilizer should be used 1-2 times. However, in the two dormant seasons of winter or summer, you can control the amount of fertilizer.

Water volume

The climate in the north is relatively dry, so watering and spraying should be done in a timely manner. But when it reaches dormancy, you must control the amount of water. If you don't, the roots will easily rot. If you have time to collect rainwater, you can use it for watering. The natural nutrients in rainwater are very beneficial to the growth of plants. When the soil pH does not meet the standard, you can choose to cut some persimmons or put some vinegar in, but be sure to use the right amount, otherwise the pH will be too low.
