How to sow Begonia

How to sow Begonia

Selection of container and substrate for Begonia

When sowing, you should choose a shallow flower pot with strong air permeability and good water permeability. The soil matrix is required to be relatively loose and fertile. Generally speaking, loam is the most suitable. After being exposed to the sun or sterilized at high temperature, and after layers of screening, the coarseness and fineness of the loam can be distinguished.

Treatment of Begonia before sowing

The container selected for Begonia must be cleaned and even disinfected, and the drainage holes at the bottom of the pot should be paved with tiles to ensure smooth drainage of the soil when watering.

Spread the separated coarser substrate in the lower half of the pot, and add fine particles to the upper half, but do not put too much substrate in the pot. It is best to set the height distance from the pot mouth at 2 cm.

Then place the spray pot in water, expose the pot surface, and allow water to penetrate from the bottom of the pot hole from bottom to top. Wait until the pot soil is moist before sowing.

How to sow Begonia

It is best to sow new seeds of Begonia that are harvested in the same year, and the sowing time is from April to May and from August to September.

First mix the seeds with fine garden soil, and then spread them evenly on the surface of the potting soil. There is no need to cover them with soil. Use thinner glass or plastic film to keep them moist. Place them in a cool and ventilated place. If you place them in a greenhouse, you need to shade them. The temperature conditions of 15-22℃ are suitable for rooting and germination, which will take about 1 week.
