Can I still grow succulents in winter?

Can I still grow succulents in winter?

The first factor: temperature

If you want to grow a pot of succulent plants in winter, you must not ignore the temperature factor. When the outdoor temperature is below 5 degrees, it cannot be left outside. It must be brought indoors for cultivation, and the indoor temperature should not be too high or too low. It should be kept constant. If the temperature cannot be kept constant, the temperature difference should not be too large. Around 10 degrees is the ideal growing temperature for succulents.

The second factor: watering

In winter, the air is generally drier, especially indoors. Therefore, we must pay attention to the issue of watering succulents. If you buy seedlings, you will need to water them frequently, but you can water them less at a time, just keep the soil moist. If you buy a stronger adult succulent plant, it is okay to water it once a month. After all, the leaves are thick and have their own water storage function.

The third factor: placement

If placed indoors, do not place it in a dark and humid place, but place it in a ventilated place, preferably in a sunny place. If this is not possible, you can put it outside the window during the day and bring it back indoors at night.

Other factors

The above are all some of the bigger factors. There are also smaller factors, such as if the temperature is not stable in winter, do not turn the soil. After turning the soil, the root system will inevitably be damaged, and it will take some time to regrow the roots and restore the growth state. If the temperature is unstable, the succulents will not recover well, which will affect the health of the succulents in the future.

Another reason is that because the Internet is so developed nowadays, some people like to buy succulents online. It's not that it's not possible, but if you buy them online, the transportation time will cause certain damage to the succulents due to the conditions. And if you buy them in winter and the temperature is not ideal, the succulents will not be able to recover in a short time and are likely to die. Therefore, if you want to buy succulents in winter, you must buy succulents with root systems in the market. If you meet the factors I mentioned above, there will be no problem in growing succulents in winter!
