How to cultivate Hedinglan

How to cultivate Hedinglan

Soil selection

1 part of crushed moss + 3 parts of peat soil + 1 part of river sand + 4 parts of humus soil. This soil mixture is conducive to air permeability and water permeability. You can also use garden soil instead of peat soil.

Fertilizer requirements

The growth of crane orchid is stronger than that of ordinary plants, so its demand for nutrients is relatively large. Sufficient base fertilizer should be applied to the soil before planting. During the growing season, fertilizer should be applied every 2 to 3 weeks until the end of autumn. No fertilizer is needed in winter and after the flowers bloom and fade.

Water requirements

The soil should be kept relatively moist in summer, and the upper layer of the potting soil can be kept drier in spring, autumn and winter. In addition to watering, you should also sprinkle water around it frequently in summer. The humidity of the air is also very beneficial to its growth, but when it is too dry, the plant will lose its previous vitality and bright colors. It will go into a period of dormancy after flowering, and the amount of water should be strictly controlled at this time.

Sunlight needs

Just maintain 2 to 3 hours of light a day, but avoid too strong sunlight. In summer, you can bask in the sun for a while in the morning, but in spring and autumn, avoid the midday sun.

Temperature requirements

The most suitable temperature is between 18 and 25 degrees. If the temperature can be maintained above 12 degrees in winter, it will bloom in February to March of the following year. The winter overwintering temperature must be above 6 degrees. It is best to move it indoors in winter.
