The difference between Thousand-root Grass and Ground Ivy

The difference between Thousand-root Grass and Ground Ivy

1. The appearance and features are different

Thousand roots grass:

Thousand roots grass is a herbaceous plant. Its roots are relatively thin, about 10 cm long, and have many adventitious roots. The stem is also very thin, with many branches at the base. Each branch is about 10 to 20 centimeters in size and has sparse soft hairs on it. The leaves are opposite, and are oval, oblong, and obovate in shape. The front top is round, the base is a bit slanted, and not very symmetrical, like a circle or heart shape, with fine serrations on the edges.

Ivy:

The ground ivy is often wrinkled and curled up, and a little bent. Although the stems are also very thin, they are branched in a fork shape. The surface is purple-red, relatively smooth and hairless, or sometimes has some fine white hairs. It is very brittle and easy to break. The broken part is yellow-white and there is emptiness in the middle. Although the leaves are also opposite, they are light red in color and have short stalks or no stalks. Most of the leaves are wrinkled or have fallen off, but when they are unfolded, they become long oval shapes. So if you compare them carefully, they are still very different.

2. Efficacy and function are different

Thousand Roots Grass: Thousand Roots Grass tastes a bit sour and slightly cool. It can mainly relieve itching and some other skin diseases. It is usually boiled with clean water according to professional guidance, and then it can be used to wash the affected area, such as dysentery, eczema, hemorrhoids, etc., and it has many effects.

Ground ivy: Although ground ivy also has the effect of clearing heat and detoxifying, it targets different diseases. Its taste is relatively spicy and can help us cool the blood and stop bleeding. It is usually harvested in summer and autumn, impurities are removed, and it is dried. It can treat some hematuria, bloody stool, metrorrhagia in women, etc. So there are some differences in their effects.
