Common diseases of lotus bamboo: AnthracnoseSymptoms of Lotus Bamboo AnthracnoseAnthracnose is a common disease of lotus bamboo. It occurs widely and is a serious disease that harms lotus bamboo in the south. Due to the high temperature and long drought last winter and this spring, the lotus bamboo planted early in Zhanjiang, Guangzhou, Taishan and other areas of Guangdong have grown lushly. According to reports from many flower growers, the tips and leaves of many lotus and bamboo flowers have become dry, and the disease has continued to spread to the upper leaves; the disease broke out due to long periods of drought and high temperatures, and coincident rainfall. It was diagnosed as an epidemic of lotus bamboo anthracnose, which occurred ahead of schedule in mid-March. The disease begins mostly on the leaf tips, leaf edges and leaves. In the early stage, the diseased parts appear as water-soaked dark green irregular spots, which gradually spread and expand to the upper leaves; in the middle stage, they are semicircular to irregular in shape, with dark brown edges and obvious boundaries; in the late stage, the outer edge of the leaf spots has a yellow halo, and the middle of the spots are gray-brown or grayish white to yellow-brown. The spots may be obvious or not, with small black spots appearing on the spots, and the leaves begin to gradually turn yellow and die. Once the spots spread to the leaves, young leaf buds, main stems, and bases of leaf stems, if the disease is serious, the stems and leaves will quickly wilt and die. Under conditions of continuous rain, fog and dew, diseased leaves spread and plants grow poorly, seriously affecting the effect of foliage viewing. Methods for preventing and controlling bamboo anthracnose Strengthen the maintenance and management of lotus bamboo, and avoid planting too densely; pay attention to avoid freezing and frost damage; irrigate moistly, apply fertilizers reasonably, and increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to promote growth and improve disease resistance. In winter and spring, diseased leaves should be cut off and dead leaves should be cleaned up, and burned in a concentrated manner to reduce the incidence of the disease. Quicklime should be sprinkled for sterilization and the soil should be disinfected; or 500 times diluted 50% compound carbendazim should be sprayed once to prevent disease, which has a better preventive effect. Improve the permeability of fields or gardens. For open-field cultivation, pay attention to digging ditches to drain water after rain to reduce field humidity. It is not advisable to apply nitrogen fertilizer excessively. During the growing season, set up shade nets to reduce exposure to high temperatures and strong sunlight. Kill spiders, longhorn beetles, spider mites, scale insects, etc. in time to reduce the transmission medium. When diseased plants are found, pesticides should be sprayed in time to control the disease. In the early stage of the disease, 75% thiophanate-methyl + 70% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder (1:1) 600-800 times diluted, or 50% compound thiophanate-methyl 800 times diluted or 50% carbendazim wettable powder 600-800 times diluted can be sprayed alternately, which has a good prevention and control effect. Use the above-mentioned agents alternately, once every 7 days, spray 3-4 times in a row. Generally, spraying is done quickly before or after heavy rain to control the spread and infection of spores and conidia produced by the pathogen, achieving better prevention and control effects. Common diseases of lotus bamboo: leaf spotSymptoms of Lotus Leaf Spot DiseaseLeaf spot is a fungal disease. The pathogen survives on diseased plant remains and is spread by air currents, insects, etc. It can infect and cause harm directly through the stomata of the leaves. The disease is prone to occur all year round in a greenhouse environment; the disease is severe under humid conditions. Lotus bamboo leaf spot disease mainly occurs on the leaves. The lesions are brown spots at the initial stage with yellow edges; after expansion, the lesions become nearly circular, gray inside, dark brown edges, and yellow surroundings. Under humid conditions, black particles appear on the lesions. Lotus bamboo leaf spot disease prevention and control methodsDuring the maintenance period, control the density of plants and maintain ventilation and light. Spray fungicides such as Japanese Bunker Bacteria, Ethyl Phosphate Aluminum Manganese Zinc, etc. in the early stage of the disease. Common diseases of lotus bamboo: stem rotSymptoms of Lotus Bamboo Stem RotThe occurrence of stem rot will reduce the ornamental value and even cause the death of the plant in severe cases. It occurs more frequently during the high temperature and high humidity period from May to September, mainly harming leaves and stems. Symptoms include: yellowing of leaves at the base of the seedling stem; rot, yellowing and softening of the stem base; reddening of the inside of the stem; and the pathogen gradually spreads upward from the lower incision. Methods for controlling lotus bamboo stem rotCultivate strong and well-organized plant seedlings; remove diseased plants and burn them in batches. Soak the incision under the seedlings in 3000 times diluted 42% carbendazim powder or 1000 times diluted 88% mycobacterium hydrate for 24 hours. |
