How to prune the fortune tree

How to prune the fortune tree

1. Prepare pruning tools

Before pruning, you need to prepare special pruning knives. Never use ordinary scissors at home, otherwise the cut will easily become infected and promote the invasion of bacteria. Therefore, gardening scissors are usually the best choice.

2. Apply fertilizer

Before pruning it, we need to supplement it with enough nutrients and move it to a cool and ventilated place one month in advance, and then we can apply fertilizer to it. Liquid nitrogen fertilizer is usually used as the main fertilizer, mainly to enable it to sprout new branches faster after pruning.

3. Cut off branches and leaves

When pruning, cut off all branches and leaves that grow too densely or in a messy manner, and only keep 1 to 2 small buds. When pruning, you must not be soft-hearted, so as to effectively prevent the plant from continuing to grow too tall. If you see sick branches, you must cut them all off, otherwise they will continue to consume a large amount of nutrients, thus affecting the normal absorption of other branches, so don't be soft-hearted and leave them behind.

4. Sunshade and ventilation

When pruning it, it is usually cut short. This way, there is no need to apply medicine on the cut after pruning. Just place it in a ventilated place for maintenance. After pruning, about 22 days later, the pruned plants will gradually grow many new shoots, and some will even grow a small number of leaves.
